Arizona authorities make huge fentanyl haul in traffic stop

A routine traffic stop in Arizona this week quickly became one to remember when authorities say they seized enough fentanyl powder to make up to 10 million possibly lethal pills.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said Friday that a police dog uncovered nearly 22 pounds of fentanyl Wednesday in a truck, The Associated Press reports.

Daniel Antonio Guzman-Perez, the 21-year-old driver, was arrested.

Online records show Guzman-Perez was booked into jail Wednesday.

Significant as the seizure was, it wasn’t the largest by the sheriff’s office in recent weeks, according to Yavapai County Sheriff David Rhodes.
