Springfield <strong>touched on the possibility of ending his own life during an interview<\/strong> with&nbsp;Lori Majewski, host of SiriusXM\u2019s Feedback radio show:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&nbsp;\u201cLast\n year I was close to it, really close to it. When Robin Williams and \nChester [Bennington and Chris Cornell] and those guys \u2026 I didn\u2019t go, \u2018Oh\n that\u2019s terrible.\u2019 I went, \u2018I get it.\u2019 I get being that lost and dark.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Springfield\u2019s battle against depression is one that stretches back decades, <strong>marked by a suicide attempt as a teenager<\/strong>\n that thankfully, he survived \u2013 but the struggle continued well into \nadulthood, the birth of his children Liam and Joshua forcing him to deal\n with his depression head on and beat back the suicidal ideation that \nloomed over him like a dark cloud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The thoughts are still there, \nand with his sons fully grown Springfield has a new, different \nunderstanding as to how devastating for them it would be if he gave in \u2013\n as a father, he recognizes that were the shoe on the other foot, it\u2019s \nnot something he\u2019d ever be able to reconcile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cWhen I had kids I said, \u2018Okay that takes suicide off the table, that\u2019s not an option anymore, I don\u2019t care how bad I feel.<\/p><p>But\n now my kids are grown. It\u2019s really weird \u2026 it would devastate them. I \ndon\u2019t know how I could ever come to terms with that. But it rides on my \nshoulder every day.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re glad you\u2019re here, Rick. Keep fighting the good fight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>You  rock. Each and every one of you, and you matter.
